Col Towficur Rahman (Retd) was born on January 28, 1956. He Joined the War of Liberation at the age of 15 and was trained at Melaghar Guerilla Training Centre, Tripura, India. In 1971 he actively took part in the war with 4 East Bengal in Mondobag, Kashba and later on as a trained Guerilla he participated in unconventional warfare in and around Dhaka. He was a student of Shaheen School and Notre Dame College of Dhaka and later joined the Department of Public Administration of the University of Dhaka. While in his 2nd year at the university in 1976, he joined the Bangladesh Army. He retired as a Colonel from the Bangladesh Army in 2001. Since then he is in the corporate world and presently working as Chief Business Development Officer of a Multi National Company. Col Rahman married Dina Towfic on 26th February 1982, and is blessed with three daughters, Ishika Zonina Towfic, Raisa Adiba Towfic and Tasnuva Ummida Towfic.
