Nearly three decades have passed since the emergence of the real estate sector in Bangladesh. With significant contributions to the national gross domestic product (GDP), real estate has been firmly established as one of the leading professional sectors of Bangladesh, as well as one of the largest employment generating industries. Despite the massive growth of the real estate sector, research on various real estate topics is limited in Bangladesh. As such, universities that have started new courses on real estate development and urban planning are suffering from a lack of relevant course material. This book was written to eliminate this gap in real estate course work and research, and contains in-depth analysis of various real estate topics from primary and secondary sources. This book presents a wide variety of real estate related topics, ranging from the historical emergence of the real estate sector to concepts that are at play in the current market, such as supply and demand, legal rules and regulations and how these forces shape the consumer’s desire to invest in real estate. Additionally some finance, management, construction and urban planning practices are discussed as practical knowledge of these topics is essential to the success of any real estate development project. Finally, all these concepts are brought together to show students step by step how a real estate project can be evaluated and made successful.
