About The Author

Dr. Atiur Rahman

Dr. Atiur Rahman is a professore of the department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka. Dr. Rahman served as the Governor of the Central Bank of Bangladesh during May 2009-March 2016. He occupied different positions in eminent research and academic institutions. He holds Ph.D. in Economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Professor Rahman has published 56 books in English and Bengali, besides, numerous papers in national and international journals. The book titled Peasants and Classes (1986) jointly published by Zed Books, London, UPL, Dhaka and Oxford University Press Ltd, Delhi was widely acclaimed by students, teachers and multi-disciplinary scholars. Other books also got wider readership.
