Bimal Guha (b.1952) is one of the leading poets of Bangladesh. He writes poems in myriad subjects inclusive of motherland, society, people, liberation war and love. He entered the literary arena in 1968 as a school student. Later he started to appear in different literary page of newspapers and magazines. He was awarded National Level Bangladesh Parishad Literary Award for poetry as a promising young poet in 1979 by the Government of Bangladesh, and honoured with many other awards later. His first book of poems was published in 1982, and then he transcends into newer perceptions from one volume to another. He made his readers captivated right from his first book, and his popularity became more pervading from his second volume. He has 23 books to his credit including 14 books of poems. Without following regular paths of his predecessors, Bimal Guha has created his own path. The imagery, simile, metaphors and symbols he applied in his poems are so very special and striking that they imply his speciality in creating individualistic style.
