M.A.S. Abdel Haleem (born 1933), is the King Fahd Professor of Islamic Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London (SOAS)] in London, England, and editor of the Journal of Qur'anic Born in Egypt in 1930, Abdel Haleem learned the Qur'an by heart during his childhood, and is now a hafiz.[5][6] He studied at Al-Azhar University and completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge.[3] He has lectured at SOAS since 1971.[3] In 2004, Oxford University Press published his translation of the Qur'an into English.
