Disaster and Sustainable Development' by Shuchita Sharmin is a compilation of individual but logically sequential articles. While concern for development and sustainability of achievements of development initiatives exist in literature for long, ambiguity in meaning and desired outcomes of development initiatives persist. In this book, different theoretical dilemmas are discussed for meaning, examples of different disaster and sustainable development related initiatives and their consequences are analysed and still continuing issues of concern are pointed out. Disaster and development are two individual terms that may include diverse phenomena and varieties and understanding the diverse dimensions of the relation between disaster and development through a single book is never possible.
