Making Math Fun

The purpose of this book is to create interest in mathematics and not to teach mathematics as such. The book is meant for students, teachers and members of the public at large who want to know what mathematics is all about. Mathematics which was once termed as the Queen of Sciences used to attract some of the most talented students to its study. The charm of mathematics has, however, diminished for a number of reasons, the prime - reason being that we, as teachers, have failed to project mathematics as an interesting and appealing subject. If only the students of mathematics could understand the applications of what they are taught in classes to real-life situations, their appreciation of mathematics would be greatly enhanced. The teachers have a challenging task in this connection. They should establish the notion that mathematics is not a dry and drab subject but is a useful and fascinating one. They can do this by being innovative in the teaching of mathematics and by introducing elements of fun and delight in the teaching procedure
