A PROFILE OF THE AUTHOR Born: January 19, 1940. Village: Alaipur, District: Magura, Bangladesh. Advocate, Supreme Court. Former Roving Ambassador, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (Mujibnagar). In 1948, while he was studying in class two at Priyanath H. E. School (later Nawabpur Govt. High School), Dhaka, its Headmaster Sree Hemchandra Biswas conferred on the author the "Certificate of Distinction for Extra-Academic Activities" in a special ceremony. The author, an International Scout, participated in the First Pakistan National Scouts Jamboree, Karachi, Pakistan in 1952 and the World Golden Jubilee Scouts Jamboree, Birmingham, England, in 1957. He was awarded the highest award, the 'All- Round Notre Dame Spirit' of Notre Dame College, Dhaka, and was the Founder-Chairman of Father Martin Memorial Committee after the death of the Principal Father Martin in 1960. The author was the Press Reporter-cum-Press Photographer, the Daily Ittefaq, Rajshahi University, 1961, Joint Secretary, Rajshahi Press Club, 1962, Joint Editor, Rajshahi University Magazine, 1963 and Founder Member-in-Charge of Bhalo Habo Sangsad (1957-2004). The historic proposal of the Dhaka Bar Association dated February 22, 1965 for conducting all business in courts and offices in Bengali language, adopted unanimously, was tabled by the author. He was elected a Basic Democrate Member from South Kamalapur, Dhaka. He was the Chairman, Ward Committee and was elected Secretary-General of East Pakistan Basic Democrates Association, 1965. He was President, Dilkusha Union Awami League (1965-1972), member of the Working Committee of Dhaka City Awami League (1965-1972), Chairman, Dilkusha Union, Dhaka Municipal Corporation, 1972, Founder-Chairman, Alaipur Red Cross Maternity and Child Welfare Centre, Alaipur, Magura,(1970-2004). He was the first to resign in East Pakistan from the post of Chairman of Ward Committee and Basic Democrate Member in protest against the policies of Field Marshal Md. Ayub Khan, President of Pakistan and as a result all most all the Basic Democrate Members and All Chairman of Ward Committees in East Pakistan resigned. As such the system of Basic Democracy failed. During the War of Independence of Bangladesh, on July 14, 1971, a movie interview of the author was filmed in the studio of Film Division, Bombay and exhibited in all the Cinema houses of India. Radio interviews of the author was recorded in Bombay and Goa Radio Stations of All India Radio and broadcast thereafter. Reports of many Press Conferences of the author was published in English, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali, Goanese & other newspapers in india and in other countries during the War of Independence of Bangladesh, 1971
