Edge of Eternity is the third and last book of The Century Trilogy by Ken Follett. This series follows five intertwined American, English, German, Russian and Welsh families. In Edge of Eternity, the author chronicles the important events of the 1960s to the 1990s, through the eyes of an array of characters. Readers will witness mass political movements, a presidential impeachment, assassinations, The Vietnam War and more. Rebecca Hoffman is a school teacher in East Germany and she discovers that her husband is a Stasi agent who has been spying on her for many years. When she impulsively confronts him, he threatens to destroy her family. The second character is a mixed-race American named George Jakes, who forsakes a lucrative corporate law career in order to join Robert F Kennedy's Justice Department. He soon finds out that the fight against racial discrimination is a personal battle. In another plot, Cameron Dewar, a senator's grandson, becomes involved in a political espionage. Dmitri Dvorkin finds himself in the middle of the nuclear race between the US and the Soviet Union. His twin sister, Tania, thrusts herself into the global governmental turmoil, which takes her to Cuba, Moscow, Warsaw and beyond. Rebecca Hoffman's brother, Wally has to choose between his pregnant girlfriend and his rock and roll career. Edge of Eternity presents a fascinating plot to its readers.
