The Arab-Israeli war of 1967 lasted for only six days. However in reality, the war between the two countries never ended. The region suffered from the consequences of the Yom Kippur War, which took place in 1973. Six Days of War: June 1967 and the Making of the Modern Middle East is an international bestseller authored by Michael B Oren which gives a detailed account of the war between two countries. The author has written this book in an excellent narrative style with his accurate grasp of data, motive and fact. Oren has successfully reconstructed the actions on the battlefields during those six days and the political aftershocks that shook the world. Important personalities like Alexei Kosygin, Moshe Dayan, Gamal Abdul Nasser and Lyndon Johnson rose to power as well as toppled from power as the result of this war. Borders had to be redrawn as a result and the success and failure of strategies was decided within hours. The war saw a change in the balance of power in the Middle-East as well as in the entire world. The book is a comprehensive work of history with an engaging narrative. Six Days of War: June 1967 and the Making of the Modern Middle East was published by Presidio Press in the year, 2003. This reprint edition is available in paperback format.
